The far east end

Centennial Scarborough sits in Toronto’s southeast corner, near Port Union Road and Lawrence Avenue East. With the lake to the south, Rouge National Urban Park to the east and the Highland Creek ravine to the west, it is one of the greenest parts of the city.

You will find a mix of 1960s bungalows and sidesplits alongside newer homes built near the waterfront. Rouge Hill GO station is the closest stop for trains downtown.

Common Centennial Scarborough questions

Which GO station is closest?

Rouge Hill GO, on the Lakeshore East line, serves the south part of the neighbourhood. West Hill is a nearby alternative worth comparing.

Is it close to the waterfront?

Yes. The Port Union waterfront park and trail run along the lake just south of the area. Widen the search to all Scarborough bungalows.

How big are the lots in Centennial Scarborough?

Lots here are generous by Scarborough standards, with many 1950s and 1960s bungalows on wide, deep parcels. That combination has made the area popular with builders and families doing custom rebuilds, so you’ll often see original homes beside newer large houses on the same street.

Are there ravine restrictions in Centennial Scarborough?

On some streets, yes. Properties near the Highland Creek and Rouge River valleys or the lakefront bluffs can be regulated by the TRCA and the City’s ravine bylaw, which affects additions, decks, a pool and tree removal. Ask for a survey and check the City’s ravine mapping before you buy.

Who tends to buy bungalows in Centennial Scarborough?

Downsizers who want a quiet street near the lake, families upgrading from smaller houses and builders looking for rebuild lots all compete here. If you’re moving from a larger home, our downsizing guide covers what to look for, and nearby Highland Creek is worth a look too.
