For downsizers and retirees looking for one-floor living outside the GTA, steady prices and plenty of choice make it a comfortable place to shop.

With four-and-a-half months of supply, this is a market where you can negotiate. Make your offer conditional on a home inspection, and ask about the age of the roof, furnace and windows, especially on older bungalows. If you are selling a GTA home to buy here, you may be able to buy without a mortgage or with a small one, which makes your offer stronger.
