Dorset Park in four points

  • Central location just southwest of Scarborough Town Centre.
  • Mostly 1950s and 60s bungalows and backsplits on regular lots.
  • Easy access to Highway 401 and Kennedy Road.
  • Parks, schools and community centres spread throughout the area.

Who buys here

Dorset Park tends to attract buyers who want a detached bungalow in the middle of Scarborough without paying a premium for lake or ravine views. It is also popular with families looking to add a basement suite, since many houses have full-height lower levels.

What people ask about Dorset Park

What are the typical Dorset Park bungalows like?

Dorset Park’s residential streets were mostly built in the 1950s and 1960s, with brick bungalows on decent lots, many with side drives and garages. Original layouts are common, so you’ll see updated homes alongside ones ready for renovation, much as in neighbouring Wexford-Maryvale.

What happened to the Scarborough RT near Dorset Park?

Line 3 Scarborough, which had Lawrence East and Ellesmere stations near the neighbourhood, closed in 2023 and was replaced by buses using a busway along much of the old route. The Line 2 subway extension toward Scarborough Centre and Sheppard and McCowan is under construction, so check the TTC for current service.

Is Dorset Park close to shopping?

Yes. Kennedy Commons near Kennedy Road and Highway 401 has big-box stores and restaurants, and Scarborough Town Centre is a short drive northeast. Plazas along Lawrence Avenue and Kennedy Road cover everyday needs, much as they do in Bendale.

Are Dorset Park bungalows good for multigenerational families?

Many are, since a full basement with a side door can be finished as a self-contained suite for parents or adult children. If you’re planning that, our in-law suite guide covers layouts and tax credits, and you should confirm building code and permit requirements with the City.
